Darrell Oxendine also known as (Coach Ox) was added to the Bradwell Institute Football
Coaching Staff in January 2023, to serve as the Running Back Coach and Recruiting Specialist.
During his first year as the Running Back Coach, Coach Oxendine had an immediate impact on
the Bradwell Institute backfield and rushing attack. Coach Oxendine groomed Sophomore RB
Wade Cobb into one of the best Running Backs within the Region. Cobb didn't waste time
making his presence known. Rushing for over 100 yards in back to back games, including a
breakout performance against cross town rival Liberty County. Cobb would rush for over 100
yards and 2 touchdowns in the game, earning him the Offensive MVP of the Game and leading
the Tigers to their first victory over their cross town rival in 4 years. This performance set the
pace for the season, as Cobb went on to rush for over 600 yards and 4 touchdowns on his way
to earning All Region accolades on the season.
Prior to joining the Bradwell Institute Coaching Staff, Coach Oxendine served 3 years as the
Recruiting Specialist for Greensboro College, located in Greensboro NC from 2020-2023. While
serving as the Recruiting Specialist at Greensboro College, Coach Oxendine earned the
reputation as an elite recruiter. Coach Oxendine successfully identified, recruited and secured
commitments from numerous talented athletes across the Eastern Seaboard. Those athletes
would later go on to earn 1st Team and 2nd Team All USA South accolades and awards during
his tenure.
Coach Oxendine began his collegiate playing career at North Carolina Wesleyan 2005-2006.
Coach Oxendine would eventually transfer to Greensboro College and major in Kinesiology,
completing his collegiate career as an athlete in 2009. In 2009 Coach Oxendine enlisted in the
U.S Army as a Dental Specialist, specializing in Oral Surgery and Dental Forensics. Thereafter
serving his country including a decorated military career he would retire from the U.S Army in
February 2020. Beginning the mark of his Collegiate Coaching Career.
Coach Oxendine was a Four Sport Letterman in High School. Lettering in Football, Basketball,
Baseball, and Track at South Robeson High School located in Rowland NC, and Lumberton
High School located in Lumberton NC.
Coach Oxendine is a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe, located in Robeson County. He and
his wife Christie Faye Oxendine have six kids, Alayah, Aniya, Miya, Denim ,Phoenix, and
Brilliance Hope Oxendine.
